The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association Donates Clothing to the Homeless

[Yang Zheng-min reporting from Taipei] When the homeless look for jobs, they often lack presentable clothing to wear to interviews. So yesterday members of The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association contributed two-hundred sets of clothes to their street friends counseled by the Taipei City Government Employment Service Center, enabling the recipients to attend interviews in decent attire and thus gain employers’ confidence.

The center began job counseling for the homeless through a service facility in August 1990. To date, 1,544 street people have received assistance, with sixty-five percent or 1,007 successfully obtaining jobs.

Mr. Liu Jia-hong, Secretary of the Employment Service Center, said, “Our street friends have to look presentable at job interviews, but the clothes we previously prepared were all distributed.” Thus the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association members were trying to help the street people and when they learned of the situation donated two hundred sets of jackets and sports trousers.
