On October 1, 2006, Typhoon Xangsane came to the central Danang with its accompanying tornados. The tornados reached top wind speeds of up to 185 kilometers (115 miles) an hour, placing the city under the storm and heavy rains. The howling sounds of the wind outside made me shiver. Perhaps, I had not had this experience before in my life. So, honestly, my whole body was paralyzed despite the fact that I concentrated on the wisdom eye and recited the Holy Names.
At that moment I was kneeling. Later, sitting up on the floor I tried to nervously look through the window. I saw everything circling and twisting in the middle of the storm. The roof tiles and sheets flew away like flying kites. High voltage wires and electric poles collapsed, and telephone lines totally cut off the outside world. At that time, my house was shaking completely due to the neighbors’ corrugated sheets that landed on the rooftop. The metal sheets were being tangled in piles of broken cable wires and constantly moved up and down. Although I thought that I would have nothing to lose or to fear, I was still anxious and worried. Watching the destruction of the storm, I felt so vulnerable and small. There was a billboard near my house, and despite its height of 20 meters and tens of tons in weight, it was knocked down to the Han River. According to reports, the typhoon destroyed thousands of homes.
There was a Convenient Method brother who meditated during the storm. When he recited Master’s name, he saw in his inner vision that Dharma guards were standing guard around his house. He is extremely grateful to Master.
Without Master’s protection, the fate of my family would not be known at this time. I can not hold back my tears while writing to You, dearest Master. Thanks to You, everything remained safe and sound, and despite the damaged roof top the house is still intact. Thanks to You, the disaster’s impact was greatly lessened for the people. I don’t know where to find more precious words than “thank You” to express our gratitude. You have taken such great care of us.
