Tens of thousands of Palestinian government workers only
received partial salaries since March 2006. In an unprecedented move,
Qatar's emir has promised to pay the salaries for two of Palestine's
government organizations. The Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh
stated that Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
has taken charge of paying the salaries of all the employees of the
Education Ministry. This amounts to 40,000 people and adds up to $22.5
million US dollars per month. The Emir has also agreed to pay the salaries
of 11,000 additional employees at the Health Ministry. The salaries
for this group may be a total of another $7 million US dollars per month.
We are happy to learn of the Emir of Qatar's benevolent assistance to
the people of Palestine. We thank Heaven for peace in the Middle East.
