Vegetarian Baking Time
for Children

By Taipei News Group (Originally in Chinese)

[Taipei] To help the younger generation develop a better understanding of the vegetarian diet, Taipei initiates held a cooking class for children to make cookies and rice balls during a childcare session* at Taipei Center on March 21, Golden Year 4 (2007).

Instead of eggs and milk, children were instructed to use soybean milk and grape seed oil, which are healthier and give a better flavor. The contented smiles that lit up their faces as they savored the cookies and rice balls they had made with their own hands showed how much they enjoyed the experience.

* The Taipei Center offers childcare for children under age six during group meditation sessions so that their parents can meditate with an easy mind. Special activities are held periodically to help the children understand more about the vegetarian diet and spiritual practice through learning and direct experience. These activities foster closer relations between parents and children, and add to the happy memories of the young saints.

Film Show at National Taiwan Normal University
- An Inconvenient Truth

By Taipei Universities News Group (Originally in Chinese)

[Taipei] A film show titled “2007: Caring for the Great Earth” was held by the National Taiwan University Light and Sound Society and the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) Personal Development Society at the NTNU campus on March 22, Golden Year 4 (2007).

The evening event, which was open and free to the public, began with a Supreme Master Television program and the DVD “The Real Heroes.” These were followed by the documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth,” in which former U.S. Vice President Al Gore thoroughly explained the global warming crisis to correct any misunderstanding of the issue. He also urged everyone to help prevent the situation from further deterioration.

After the film show, some guests stayed to learn the Convenient Method of meditation. Fellow initiates hoped that the activity would increase public awareness of the importance of the vegetarian diet and its link to environmental protection, as well as helping them realize their inner God Nature through meditation.

Activity to Benefit the Underprivileged

By Taipei News Group (Originally in Chinese)
Vice President Lu Hsiu-lien (third from the right, front row) was invited to read a proclamation of love together with other attendees.

[Taipei] On March 25, Golden Year 4 (2007), the Taipei Center participated in an educational and cultural activity for disabled populations and indigenous people, sponsored by over a hundred community groups eager to “care for the underprivileged and promote a harmonious society.”

The event featured an industrial expo and a charity fair. Fellow initiates performed a dance accompanied by “The Song of Love Ocean” under the flag of universal peace designed by Master. The emcee conducted an interview with the song’s composer, sister Liao, and enquired about the meaning of the flag. The emcee then introduced the Love Ocean Arts Center (Taipei Center) to the attendee audience and invited audience members to make further contact.

Attendees complimented local initiates for their delicious vegetarian food and Alternative Living multipurpose tablemats, document folders, and Supreme Master Television flyers that were distributed at the venue.

Sharing Vegetarianism and Spiritual Messages at a Hakka Festival By Nantou News Group (Originally in Chinese)

[Nantou] Fellow initiates from the local Center prepared a wide variety of handmade cookies and on March 31, Golden Year 4 (2007), distributed Alternative Living flyers to tourists visiting the Hakka Tung Blossom Festival at the Niu Er Art Resort. We also provided them with information about Supreme Master Television, the contribution of vegetarianism towards environmental protection, the top-ten peace developments of 2006, and the high cost of human consumption of meat, tobacco and alcohol. Upon receiving these materials, most tourists would find a place to be able to read them carefully.

Of the cultural groups that performed at the art resort on the second day of the festival, many were elementary school students and teachers, who were happy to receive the Alternative Living document folders. One teacher approached us to ask for more information about environmental protection. A total of 500 document folders and 1,000 leaflets were distributed during the two-day event.

A Healthful Living Seminar for School Principals

Principals of about 150 elementary and secondary schools in central Formosa participated in a health seminar that was featured as part of the inaugural ceremony of the Nantou County Emergency Medical Center on March 29. The seminar reminded the educators to devote attention to their personal health and to promote a proper diet in their schools even while focused on educational commitments. The event took place at the school auditorium of Hongren Junior High School, under the auspices of the Education Bureau Nantou County Government.

The seminar featured a short film on Meatless Monday, as advocated by Dr. Lawrence, and a talk by cancer survivor Ms. Li Qiu-liang on the risks posed by the modern diet. Ms. Li recounted her 17-year-long successful fight against cancer with a vegetarian diet, and discussed the importance of harmony in body, mind and soul. After the seminar, participants enjoyed an organic vegetarian lunch planned by Ms. Li and prepared by Nantou initiates. A girl scout on duty at the venue exclaimed, “The food is really delicious, much better than the greasy food from MacDonald’s!”

This was the first seminar for Nantou school principals where a pure vegetarian meal containing no eggs or dairy products was served. It is hoped that this kind of activity will accelerate the coming of the vegetarian era on school campuses.

Mobile Ads on Positive News

By Kaohsiung News Group (Originally in Chinese)

[Kaohsiung] After some exciting negotiations, beginning early Golden Year 4 (2007), fellow initiates successfully posted huge posters advertising the Supreme Master Television on twenty buses running on seven major routes in Kaohsiung City. The advertisement display was for a two-month span, but was extended free of charge for another six weeks on eleven of the buses as there were no new advertisements.

When a fellow initiate posted the advertisement on his tourist bus, other bus owners liked the beautiful poster so much that they requested that their buses be decorated in a similar fashion, which inadvertently gave us free advertisement.

With deep compassion for animals and concerned about repeated outbreaks of epidemic diseases among animals and humans, Master has offered the world a fundamental solution to the problem by personally designing a friendly but convincing leaflet entitled “Alternative Living” to remind people to choose the vegetarian diet and stop killing in order to overcome global medical crises and save our fellow beings. Master has also instructed all initiates to share this message with their brothers and sisters in every corner of the world. In response, the practitioners have initiated an all-out effort to share Her words of love.
