Professor Fang was dedicated to the coral reef restoration and marine ecology conservation in the Kenting area of Formosa. Recently he has been invited by the Government of Palau to guide their coral restoration project. He has been leading a group of ecology experts to develop techniques to transplant native coral and to re-grow coral reefs. The technique is then applied to other countries to allow more ecology experts to participate in the effort of marine ecology conservation. ![]() Professor Fang has devoted fourteen years of his life studying the fish in Nantzuhsien Creek of Kaohsiung County. He discovered that, in the fishing-forbidden areas of Nantzuhsien Creek, the number of fish has been reducing and their habitat has been moving gradually upstream. He believes that this is evidence that global warming is impacting the ecology of the native fish. Professor Fang warned that “global warming has caused
the ecology of the stream fish in Formosa to change; and it is time
that governments should pay closer attention to the global warming
issue!”
