March 22, Golden Year 5 (2008), the monthly poetry competition “Poetry
Coffee Shop” was held in Sofia, Bulgaria. The theme was “Green,”
dedicated to the March 21 International Day of Poetry and the March
22 First Day of Spring. The competition was organized by youth theater
Nikolai Binev along with the culture, art and entertainment website,
www.kafene.bg. This month’s first prize was awarded to the
poem “Ecological” by sister initiate Ivette Lolova,
who sees the theme “Green” as ecology and vegetarianism.
Me, the Woman, the second most popular online magazine for
women, conducted an interview with the sister after the event, which
received many positive feedback from the public.

People are rushing somewhere…
just by habit,
Throwing litter everywhere… just by habit,
Polluting the air with cars… just by habit,
Raising animals… just by habit,
Killing them brutally and ruthlessly… just by habit,
Cooking them deliciously and eating them… just by habit,
Then getting sick again… just by habit.
They never contemplate… just by habit,
That frittering away their lives… just by habit,
They die for nothing… just by habit.
And they even don't want to know
That with all these
They kill our planet as well… just by habit. |
