Flyer Distribution [Singapore] To spread the message about the urgency of taking steps to avert a global warming crisis, Singapore initiates kicked off the SOS Global Warming flyer distribution campaign in early March, Golden Year 5 (2008). During the first phase of the project, which involved distributing 200,000 flyers, the public response was encouraging. For instance, after receiving one of our flyers, a student from the Environment Club of Singapore Polytechnic invited us to participate in the group’s upcoming Green Carnival on campus.
“Go Veggie! Go Green” Bike Adventure
To further raise awareness, one of our fellow initiates has embarked on an amazing bike journey, during which he is carrying the message “Go Veggie, Go Green, Save Our Planet, Save Our Lives” on flags and banners. The journey will take him from Singapore to Malaysia, into Thailand, across Laos and then all the way to the Great Wall of China. The total distance of the six-month trip is estimated to be 9,000 km. The adventure began on March 10 at Bukit Batok Nature Park in Singapore, with a group of supporters in attendance to cheer for the initiate and see him off. This long, courageous adventure has also gotten press coverage, which will surely raise public awareness about the costly link between meat eating and global warming.
Shortly after the start of the Singapore Center’s flyer distribution campaign, two articles appeared in THE STRAITS TIMES, the primary English-language newspaper in Singapore. One was titled, “Fleshing Out the Problem of Eating Meat” and the other, “Global Warming – Time Now for Ruthless Measures, Not Compromise.” The first article painted a gruesome picture of slaughterhouses and made a case against the meat diet, while the latter firmly resonated with the “Time to Act!” message broadcast by Supreme Master Television. It is hoped that through these and other messages, more people in Singapore and around the world will hear the urgent calls and take immediate action to change the fate of our beautiful planet.
