Yunyun and Momo are kindergarten students from Hebei Province who were moved by Master’s message and decided to become vegetarians. Then in Golden Year 4 (2007), after watching Supreme Master Television and listening to Master’s lecture on the global warming crisis with her granny, Yunyun felt very upset and began to cry. So her granny hugged her and said with a smile, “You can help save the Earth! If many people on Earth eat vegetarian, disaster will be averted and the planet can be saved. We still have two years to turn the situation around.” So Yunyun nodded with great confidence and quietly established the Little Earth Guards Squad with her schoolmate Momo, a little boy. The prerequisite for joining the Squad is to observe a pure vegetarian diet. The youngsters then began distributing SOS Climate Change flyers in their local community and schools.
Before handing out a flyer, Yunyun always greets the recipient politely and says, “Save the Earth! You and I can do it!” Most people are touched by these sincere words from the mouth of a pure, innocent child and reply, “Thank you very much! You are marvelous!” Momo is a strong boy who is not afraid of exhaustion, so recently he kept running around distributing the flyers. At the time the north wind was strong and dry and Momo’s lips began to crack and bleed. Yet he never gave up and would not stop to have a drink of water until all the flyers were handed out.
In the course of sharing the critical
SOS message with others, Yunyun sometimes encounters setbacks. At such
times her granny comforts her by reciting this paragraph from The Virtuous
Sutra by Lao Tzu: “When superior people hear of the Tao, they
practice it diligently. When average people hear of the Tao, they may
or may not be aware of it. When inferior people hear of the Tao, they
roar and laugh. If no one laughs, that is not the Tao.” After hearing
this, Yunyun again became her confident, jovial self! She then asked her
eight-year-old sister, “Do you want to join the Little Earth Guards
Squad?” And her sister replied, “No problem! I am in the class
propaganda cadre. I can distribute the flyers to my classmates.”
So Yunyun said, “Then you have to become a vegetarian.” And
her sister replied, “Well, let me think about it. It is very tiring
distributing flyers.” Yunyun said, “How about taking a rest
after our Earth has been saved?” Overhearing her words, Yunyun’s
granny was greatly encouraged! With such brave Little Earth Guards and
our Master’s brilliant leadership, how can we not succeed in saving
the Earth?
