Celebrating International Meatout Day

 

In joining the Meatout Day celebrations, our Association members around the world organized activities to encourage people to replace the harmful meat diet with the healthy vegetarian lifestyle. Some of these efforts are described below.

 

Singapore

500 Free Vegetarian Meals Distributed

Singapore initiates served the public free vegetarian meals at a vegetarian coffee shop, and also packed and delivered meals to clinics and businesses near the shop.

 

Formosa

Creating a Society of Meatless Diet

Ongoing efforts by fellow initiates in Formosa to inspire people toward adopting a vegetarian diet include the distribution of SOS flyers at MRT terminals, train stations, parks and shopping areas; preparation of vegetarian delicacies for free sampling at large high-tech companies; and providing vegetarian lunches for students when conducting discussions on global warming at schools.

 

Ohio, USA

“Go Green, Go Veg” Promotion in Downtown Cincinnati

The Ohio Center offered free vegetarian food to the public and distributed SOS flyers along with Alternative Living materials in downtown Cincinnati.

 

San Francisco, USA

A Successful Meatout Luncheon

Disciples from the San Jose and San Francisco Centers conducted interviews at a Meatout Day Celebration hosted by the San Francisco Vegetarian Society and the First Unitarian Universalist Church. The sumptuous luncheon prepared by Chef Schinner was offered free of charge, with the menu including a wide variety of vegetarian (vegan) treats. Well-known guest speakers spoke of the benefits of a vegetarian diet and protecting animals against cruelty.

Norway

Spreading the Urgent Message in Oslo

Initiates from the Norway Center distributed SOS climate change and AL flyers at the Oslo City Hall, the site of the Nobel Peace Prize annual ceremony. They also held up a Meatout Day banner for the benefit of passersby.

 

Perth, Australia

Third Annual Campaign on International Meatout Day

Perth initiates participated in the Meatout Day event at Murdoch University by distributing flyers and airing the NASA climate change message along with Master’s reminders on global warming.

 

Toronto, Canada

“For a Healthy Heart, Spirit and Environment”

Toronto initiates participated in the Third Annual Great Canadian Meatout event sponsored by the Toronto-based animal rights group Wild at Heart, which included a delicious meatless buffet called, “For a Healthy Heart, Spirit and Environment.”

 

Paris, France

A Successful Vegetarian Promotion

Initiates from the Paris Center distributed 500 vegan sandwiches along with flyers on climate change and leaflets promoting Master’s book at the Porte de Versailles Fair Center, where thousands of visitors gathered.

 

United Kingdom

Hope for the Planet

UK initiates traveled to Brighton, England to sell vegetarian food and distribute climate change flyers at a local Meatout Monday event.
