Holding Vegan Cooking Classes
to Promote Vegan Lunches in Schools
By Nantou News Group (Originally in Chinese)
[Nantou] The Nantou County Government has always given full support to mitigate global warming through an animal-free diet as sumptuous vegetarian meals are provided twice a month at the County Government Office canteen. Schools have also been encouraged to serve vegetarian lunches once a week under the free nutritious lunch policy for elementary and junior high schools. In a show of support, our Nantou Center held vegan cooking classes for elementary school cooking staff during the summer vacation, aiming to promote the organic, low carbon and animal-free diet among young students. ![]() We especially invited a senior dietician from Changhua
Christian Hospital, Ms. Chen Mei-ying, to work with us in designing
a nutritionally balanced lunch menu for elementary school students
when the new school term begins. This is part of an effort to support
the “One Meat-free Day Each Week” and “Try the Meat-free
Every Day” projects aimed at providing scientific basis for
parents and teachers to understand the animal-free diet provides sufficient
nutrients for the students’ growth on top of being the best
solution for global warming. Online viewing of the vegan cooking class and requesting
