Pungsan High School to
Become Vegetarian

By Korea News Group

[Andong] Pungsan High School, located in Andong, Korea, is one of the best private schools in Korea with elite students from around the nation. The students stay in dormitories at the school which provide the best facilities and offer the best education. The school not only focuses on studies, but the development of one's true self takes priority.

Recently, the principal of that institution ♥♥♥♥♥♥ considered changing the school meals to vegetarian, because he thought that this would be another way to enhance the development of their true self. However, some really did not understand fully the concept of vegetarianism, so the principal invited a fellow initiate from Andong Center to give a talk on the vegetarian diet. On March 31, Golden Year 4 (2007), to 200 students and staff, the fellow brother spoke about “Vegetarianism and Love for Life” and “How Our Food Choices Influence Ourselves and the World.”

The brother highlighted that vegetarianism saves the lives of the animals and develops the compassionate nature of ourselves. We are all connected, so if we hurt other living beings we in fact are also hurting ourselves. Not only should we extend our love in the choices of the food we eat but our thoughts, speech and actions should reflect kindness and not harm others as well. Alternative living folders were provided for the students’ reference.

A video was shown to reinforce the noble ideal of vegetarianism which appealed to the students and also integrated well with the school’s goal of developing ones true self. There was a lot of positive feedback from the students and immediately after the lecture the principal announced that the school would change to the vegetarian diet soon.

Andong Center has agreed to help the school in its transition to the vegetarian diet, as well as invite the parents to participate in a similar lecture with vegetarian food sampling so they too can experience and better understand the benefits of the vegetarian diet.

We are grateful that the principal has such a vision, to bring the compassionate diet to the young elite from all corners of the nation, which will not only benefit themselves, but also help create a brighter future for the nation.

The Spring Flower of Quan Yin Method Has Blossomed in Kyungjoo City

By Busan News Group (Originally in Korean)

[Kyungjoo] On April 8, Golden Year 4 (2007), fellow initiates held a video seminar at the Wedding Hall in Kyungjoo to introduce Master’s teaching. They also prepared a vegetarian meal to serve to the audience.

Prior to the seminar, an initiate dreamt of three people sincerely requesting him to organize such an event in the city. The ardent Busan working team worked day and night for one week with one-pointed concentration on their noble purpose. They were supported by the initiates of Kyungjoo and neighboring city Daegu, placing the posters for the video lecture everywhere around the city and distributing leaflets of Supreme Master TV and Alternative Living.

Kyungjoo has many famous tourist attractions. Especially in April, it is so beautiful and fantastic with many flowers blossom. Not only people at tourist sites but also the monks in historic temples showed deep interest in meditation and vegetarian diet.

On the day of the event, it was very crowded everywhere with tourists and cars. Many people attended the seminar and sincerely watched the tape of Master’s year 2000 lecture in Seoul, Korea. After learning the Convenient Method of meditation, one immediately applied for initiation and said this is the right meditation method that he had been searching for a long time. A Canadian who teaches English in Korea stayed to watch a video about vegetarianism after the seminar ended and didn’t leave until quite late. He’s always been interested in meditation and at this time felt very inspired by Master’s lecture.

A non-initiated husband of a sister suddenly changed his prejudice about her spiritual practice and further decided to offer his building for group meditation for the initiates in Kyungjoo. Indeed, as Master said, “Faith can move mountains!” We believe that the flower of Quan Yin Method will blossom as beautifully as the April spring flowers in Kyungjoo.

Korea Buddhism Expo 2007
By Seoul News Group (Originally in Korean)

[Seoul] During March 22 to 25, Seoul fellow initiates participated in the Korea Buddhism Expo 2007 held in Seoul. They shared the messages of Alternative Living and the Quan Yin Method of meditation, offered free vegetarian food sampling, and played Supreme Master TV programs at the venue.

Many people came to the Expo including Buddhists and young monks and nuns from Buddhist universities. Guests showed very positive responses because they are already very familiar with the teaching about vegetarianism. They also voluntarily signed our “Love Life - 10 Million-Signatures Collecting Campaign” and even encouraged others to sign because they knew the importance of it.
