From the end of July to the beginning of August, Togo experienced torrential rain with heavy damages affecting mainly the Maritime and Trays Regions in the south, leaving thousands of families displaced, houses and bridges destroyed, and crops flooded. The government has set up five shelters to accommodate about 12,000 homeless people.

Upon hearing the news, Master immediately contributed US$5,000 and instructed the local initiates to carry out relief work. With the funds, they purchased food and supplies for the victims and informed local officials about Master’s financial aid.

On August 21, the relief team went to Kouaxoé, Gatigblé and Méduimé, the most affected and difficult-to-reach villages, to distribute the much-needed goods to over 350 families. Bags of beans, soy protein and sacks of rice were packed and distributed with Supreme Master Television bags and SOS/NASA flyers. The chief canton of the area, Togbé Gérard Agbédanou, gave the team precious help by delegating one of his associates to accompany them throughout the relief activity. People welcomed the relief team with great joy. They were very touched by Master’s message of love and expressed their deep gratitude to Her. On August 23, the initiates conducted another relief activity and distributed the remaining food supplies and sleeping bags to the shelter in Attiégou and some families in need.

For the most part, the flood waters have now largely subsided, many people living in the shelters have returned to their homes, a great number of the collapsed bridges have been restored, and the fear among the people has nearly disappeared. Overall, more than US$850,000 had been contributed by the government, associations, parliament members, public and private companies, banks, embassies and NGOs. Fellow initiates thank and express their deepest gratitude to Master for Her boundless compassion for sentient beings and for teaching them the noble way of love.
