На 15 февруари, 2007 съоснователя на "Yahoo, Inc" Джери Янг и неговата жена обявиха, че ще направят голямо дарение за университета Стандфорд. То ще се използва за изследвания за откриване на нови начини за опазване на околната среда.

On February 15, Golden Year 4 (2007), Yahoo, Inc. co-founder Jerry Yang and his wife announced they would donate US$75 million (about NT$2.475 billion) to their alma mater, Stanford University. The bulk of the gift will be used to meet the great challenge of the earth's environment. Stanford University's President, John Hennessy, said that the university was seeking to invest in research and investigation of global environmental issues with all efforts. A cutting-edge environmental study center was being formed to attract experts from different areas to work together for new discoveries and environmental protection methods. The activities will greatly benefit all mankind. And the contribution from Mr. Yang and his wife was timely and profoundly significant. The young and intelligent Jerry Yang was born in Taipei in 1968. In 1995, Mr. Yang and his friend founded Yahoo, Inc., which was the first website in the world to provide web surfing service. Their creation of a medium platform concept using computer technology has changed the ways people communicate, search for new knowledge, gather information, enjoy entertainment, and buy products. It has allowed international earth villages to emerge on the internet.

Jerry Yang's wife, Akiko Yamazaki, grew up in Costa Rica. She has in-depth understanding of environmental protection, and currently serves as a director of the Wildlife Conservation Network. In the past few years, the couple has setup scholarships at Stanford University, and has pledged money for on campus schools and organizations, including the School of Engineering, Asia-Pacific Research Center and Stanford Japan Center, etc.
