Sharing love and gift with workers cleaning up debris from mud slide left by torrential rains. |
After Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces in Northern Âu Lạc were hit by a tornado on March 29, 2009, our Association members arrived with Master’s love and distributed monetary assistance, and other emergency supplies to 117 displaced households.
Later on May 18, another tornado swept through Bắc Cạn and Thái Nguyên provinces, taking two lives and destroying many houses as well as crops that were ready for harvest. In addition, torrential rains and upstream floods had caused serious mudslides in the mountainous areas, which cut off communications and damaged roads, seriously affecting citizens in that region.
With Master’s contribution of US$10,000, our Association members immediately formed a relief team, gathered essential materials, and arrived by car in the worst-hit villages in Bắc Cạn on May 22. They paid a special visit to Bắc Cạn Junior High School to distribute food and monetary gifts, helping the teachers and students to quickly resume their activities. On behalf of the entire school, the principal, Mr. Ninh Thị Hảo, extended to Master his words of heartfelt gratitude. The next day, despite rugged terrain and roads, our Association members braved streams and hills to reach remote villages deep in the forest and mountains of Thái Nguyên province to provide aid to each affected household. People were excited to receive the timely material and spiritual support and were touched by Master’s loving concern and blessings.
The relief team members wholeheartedly cherish the opportunity to
serve their fellow countrymen, and to bring the message of love
to the less fortunate in Âu Lạc.
