   Conveying the Gift of Love
  to the Flood Affected

By Bulgarian Relief Team (Originally in Bulgarian)

In December 2010, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the surrounding area experienced the worst flooding in a century, causing local officials to declare states of emergency. The flash floods led to the evacuation of 40,000 people, many of whom needed shelter and other assistance. Although the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) helped approximately 2,400 affected people, the agency warned that the victims would continue to need help in the following months.
Concerned about the suffering people, Supreme Master Ching Hai provided
US$11,000 to assist our Bulgarian Association members in conducting
relief work in the country. Directed by the local Red Cross, the
relief team visited a village in the city of Bijeljina in April
2011, where about 100 people were in need of assistance. With the
cooperation of Red Cross volunteers, who kindly provided transportation
and translation service, the team distributed emergency supplies
and cash to the grateful recipients.
