from the Musical
The
2-disc studio recording of Loving the Silent Tears: The Musical
recreates the magic of the one-time show which had its world premiere
at the 6,300-seat Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California,
USA. The album will continue to enchant audiences all over the
world with soaring ballads (“Singing Praise”), lively
songs (“All Love, All Forgive”) and memorable anthems
(“Take Each Other’s Hand”). |
Directed
by Tony nominee Vincent Paterson (Michael Jackson’s and
Madonna’s world tours) and choreographed by Emmy winner
Bonnie Story (High School Musical 1, 2, 3), Loving
the Silent Tears was an impressive collaboration of a cast
and creative team with over two dozen Academy, Grammy, Tony
and Emmy Awards. Together, they transformed the profound verses
in Supreme Master Ching Hai’s Silent Tears into
a musical sensation that takes listeners across six continents.
As MTV noted, the composers are “titans in their musical
fields” with 6-time Grammy winner & 2-time Oscar nominee
Jorge Calandrelli (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), 2-time
Oscar winner Al Kasha (The Poseidon Adventure), Emmy
winner Doug Katsaros (Footloose), 2-time Grammy winner
& 3-time Oscar nominee Henry Krieger (Dreamgirls),
Tony & Emmy winner Don Pippin (A Chorus Line), Grammy
winner Nan Schwartz (Harry Potter), and Oscar and 2-time
Grammy winner David Shire (Saturday Night Fever).
Loving the Silent Tears explores humanity’s
universal search for inner peace through superb acting by Tony
nominee Patti Cohenour (Joy), Luke Eberl (Pete), and Junior
Case (Conductor). The phenomenal vocals, including those of
music legends and international pop stars, and representing
the world’s glorious cultures, are Camellia Abou-Odah
(Arab), Flo Ankah (French), Grammy winner Black Uhuru (Jamaican),
Emmy winner & Tony nominee Liz Callaway (Australian), Tony
winner Debbie Gravitte (American), Hồ Quỳnh Hương
(Aulacese), Mark Janicello (Italian), Brian Joo (Korean), Liel
Kolet (Israeli), Tony winner Kiril Kulish (Russian), Katie McMahon
(Irish), Heather Park (Korean), Fabiana Passoni (Brazilian),
Siavash Shams (Persian), 2-time Grammy winner Jon Secada (Cuban),
Kay Tse (Chinese), and Grammy winner Jody Watley (African).
Songs in the album are presented in full in both
English as well as native languages. To make this possible,
it required a large team of dedicated translators and ethnic
composers to adapt the lyrics while ensuring the nuances and
prosody would sound perfect in the foreign language. One of
the ethnic composers, Brian Hunter, who is an Irish tenor and
the president of the Musicians Club of New York, remarked about
“Between the Master and I”: “This is just
a beautiful song in Gaelic! It can also give a welcome reminder
to many fast-paced lives that God is available to calm and soothe,
at least while listening to this song!”
As a special bonus, included is the song “Talking
to a Stone Buddha,” with music, lyrics, and vocals by
the poet. This was a recording of Supreme Master Ching Hai's
spontaneous singing during a gathering with Association members
in Austria.
The full color booklet comes with the English lyrics,
along with biographies and photos of the singers and composers.
The CD will soon be
available in stores and is currently available worldwide at:

Question:
Master,
are the songs of Loving the Silent Tears charged with
the same kind of vibration as Supreme Master TV?
Supreme
Master Ching Hai: More,
more. It’s more direct and more undiluted. This one, just
direct, just all about God. Just all about longing for God.
Just all about peace, love, and kindness.

THOUGHTS
from
LOVING THE SILENT TEARS
ARTISTS &
CREATIVES
“It
is a sweet and loving way to feel in those times when
one is more aware of God's peaceful presence than others.”
—Brian Hunter, Irish tenor and composer,
on the song “Between the Master and I”
“We
hosted the recording session today for Loving the Silent
Tears, a fantastic new musical, it’s been a
lot of fun. The music is great, the production and the
arranging was fantastic.”
—Tom Weir, Grammy-winning mixer,
engineer and producer
“We
have these beautiful poems that have been created into
songs, composed by various composers, and arrangements
are made for them to sound as if they come from different
countries.”
—Vincent Paterson, Tony-nominated
director
(Michael Jackson & Madonna world tours)
“It’s
very touching, and I think everybody needs to take each
other’s hand, and just be happy and try to make
this world a better place for our kids.”
—Fabiana Passoni, award-winning
Brazilian singer
“It
melodically sounds beautiful in French and then also strikes
a chord to the French [people]. So I very much enjoyed
translating the song into the French, because I think
that part of something being international is also when
a song like this can travel, someone hears it in another
country.”
—Flo Ankah, French singer

“He
[composer David Shire] has really captured the essence
of Australia. The music is very joyful, and it’s
very uplifting and exciting.”
—Liz Callaway, Emmy winner & Tony-nominated
singer/actress (Baby, Anastasia)
“This
song is called ‘No Place for You.’ This jumped
out at me and said, ‘This has to be sung!’”
—Frank Evans, award-winning writer and lyricist
“To
have new original works, to me is most exciting. Like
the music in Loving the Silent Tears. It’s
some extraordinary music in there, it’s just very
touching.”
—Patti Cohenour, Tony-nominated singer/actress
(The Phantom of the Opera)
“It’s
a beautiful message, and a beautiful song, and I think
everybody’s going to like it very much. It’s
that balance of the beauty, the simplicity, at the same
time the depth of the message. So that’s a combination
that’s rare to see these days.”
—Jon Secada, 2-time Grammy-winning singer
“My
song was written by Don Pippin, who has won an Emmy and
Tony, and he wrote this song that fits my voice like a
glove. He knew my voice very well.”
—Mark Janicello, Italian
tenor (vegetarian)
“I
have so many favorites. They’re so powerful. The
first act closer is the Russian piece that Kiril will
be singing, and that’s just pretty much a magnificent
piece.”
—Cynthia Lewis Ferrell, award-winning playwright
“I
just love all the pieces, and of course, I especially
like my song the most because it is a very special one
(“Talking to a Stone Buddha”). It is actually
a song by Supreme Master Ching Hai. It's like leading
the audience to open their hearts.”
—Kay Tse, Chinese platinum pop star (vegetarian)
“It’s
beautiful. The poem of the Supreme Master is so deep,
and everyone should get a chance to really experience
and read about the poem and feel the soul of what she’s
trying to explain, [what] we put out to the audience and
to people worldwide.”
—Andrew Bees of Black Uhuru,
Grammy-winning reggae legends |
“One
of my pieces for Africa is being sung by Jody Watley.
I think she’s going to bring the perfect style and
the perfect vibe to what I’ve written.”
—Nan Schwartz, Grammy-winning
composer
(Harry Potter)
“The
artists come together with love, hand in hand singing
together, voicing love to the world, voicing peace for
the world. And I hope these lyrics will reach numerous
people on the planet.”

music was inspiring to my soul, and I love the pure and
soulful music!”

is still inside me. I feel so fortunate to witness this
incredible day. I especially loved the three Middle Eastern
singers all in harmony together with their powerful voices
filling the auditorium. I look forward to the release
of the DVD.”
—Jude Lynn, MediaArts
“Performing
the only duet of the show, Brian Joo and Heather Park
brought their voices together to embody the essence of
Korea, performing a tranquil and mystical piece ‘Singing
Praise.’ As the song progressed, their vocals built
upon each other, reinforcing their praise until they finished
on a powerful note.”
—Asia Pacific Arts magazine
“Discover
the deeper, harmonious tones of peace and love that will
surely satisfy and uplift the spirit.”
—Broadway World
“And that
beautiful music [“Talking to a Stone Buddha”]…
is from a musical that was based on a poetry anthology
that was written by Supreme Master Ching Hai. And you've
heard us talk about her a lot. She's a world-renowned
spiritual leader. It's really quite beautiful.”
—Vegan World Radio / KPFT
90.1 FM Radio
“After
receiving a standing ovation by a 6,000-member audience,

a full color booklet with the English lyrics, along with
artist and composer biographies and color photos.”
—Korean Sunday News
“Kay
looked like an Asian princess on stage while performing
that song [“Talking to a Stone Buddha”]. The
director of this musical is Vincent Paterson who also
directed world tours for two superstars: one is Michael
Jackson, another is Madonna. He expressed that he was
touched by Kay's voice, hoping to work with her again
in the future. Kay said, ‘I read a lot of online
comments that people really enjoyed such a high level
performance. I was moved to tears.’”
