[Lome] On April 4, Golden Year 5 (2008), members of The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association from Lome, Togo in West Africa carried out a tree-planting event in conjunction with Lome’s Adidogom Technical High School to help raise awareness about the importance of conserving trees and preserving the environment to decrease the impact of global warming in their local area.

The students were excited about the project and eagerly worked together with the Association members to plant approximately 100 trees on the school grounds. During the work, one student commented, “It is good to plant trees since they attract rain, which helps to cool down the hot weather.” Overall, the day was filled with smiles as everyone involved felt happy to have the opportunity to improve the situation in their immediate environment and assist in combating climate change.
