[Ohio] To share their love and concern for Mother Earth, on April 19, Golden Year 5 (2008), Ohio fellow initiates had a lovely booth at a local Earth Day event, where more than 2,000 guests stood in line to receive SOS flyers and ask questions on the urgent topic of climate change. One young girl browsed through the book Las Aves de Mi Vida, and immediately liked it. When she was given the book as a gift, she was overjoyed. It was also encouraging to see other organizations at the event sharing similar information. They said it was important for us to come together to make the public aware of the many ways it can help our planet survive.

[Missouri] On April 20, Earth Day was celebrated at an event in St. Louis, where Ohio and Missouri fellow initiates came together to distribute 5,000 SOS flyers and share vegan food with the visitors, many of whom were pleasantly surprised at the taste of the vegan barbecue that was served. One girl said, “This is the first time I’ve tried vegan food and because it’s so tasty, I’ll try it more in the future.” The guests were also introduced to a vegetarian website where they can easily purchase textured soy protein and access many recipes. As the mayor of St. Louis who attended the event said, “Earth Day is a wonderful event and with the information now available, each of us can learn new ways to do more individually to help protect the environment.”

A Loud Call for National Action
on Global Warming

Por el Grupo de Noticias de Virginia (originalmente en inglés)

[Washington, D.C.] On April 20, despite the torrential downpour of rain, thousands of locals and tourists attended an event held in the National Mall to rally support for national action on global warming. Featuring elected officials and candidates, celebrities and musical performances, the event also had voter registration and a board listing the names of over 1,000 college campuses calling for a “Climate Change” campaign to lobby Congress. Simultaneous events were held in other cities nationwide.

The Virginia Center’s booth attracted hundreds of visitors to watch Supreme Master Television programs and read news articles on the seriousness of climate change. Many of them inquired about the link between meat-eating and global warming and how becoming vegetarian can help the environment. To ensure the event would be paperless, as requested by the organizer, the initiates gave out Supreme Master TV pens and magnets, and SOS DVDs. One fellow initiate creatively ordered self-inking stamps that had messages such as “Luv me, don’t eat me” and “Go Veg! Be Green!” to be imprinted on visitors’ faces and hands. It helped to lighten people’s spirits and reminded them that caring for the planet, while a serious matter, can also be lots of fun!

Many customers remarked on how wonderful the food tasted and inquired as to whether they had a restaurant in the local area. Others were touched by our group’s spirit of compassion. Master’s energy was ever-present and the love in the air was palpable.
