[Bangkok] Over the past several months, Thai initiates have been distributing SOS flyers, showing the SOS video, and sharing vegetarian food to encourage people to change their diet preferences and help stop global warming.

Among the first to benefit from the initiates’ efforts were staff members and blood donors at the Thai Red Cross Society’s National Blood Center on March 30, Golden Year 5 (2008), when vegetarian sandwiches were served and the SOS video was presented in an atmosphere of love and compassion. Many participants were inspired to become vegetarians to maintain good health and assist in saving our precious Mother Earth. To help people make the transition, the initiates provided information on vegetarianism and vegetarian restaurants around Bangkok.

Then on April 5, more SOS flyers and 1,000 servings of sticky rice with a variety of vegetarian meats were distributed in the heart of Bangkok at Sanam Luang, where royal and national ceremonies are held. The recipients appreciated the delicious food and showed their concern about global warming by reading the flyers and attentively watching the SOS video.

In another effort to share Master’s love, on April 10, local fellow initiates traveled to Lopburi in Central Thailand to distribute vegan food to 200 children and teachers at a youth program at the Samakkee Tham Temple. When the participants learned that following the vegetarian diet could reduce global warming, they showed great interest in the generous servings of the various types of vegan meats and desserts. The brothers and sisters were also encouraged by the many enquiries about vegetarian food outlets and wishes to replace meat with tofu products and fish sauce with soy sauce.

Then on April 20 in Bangkok, the initiates handed out SOS flyers and vegan sandwiches at the Bangkok Bus Terminal, where a middle-aged woman, one of 600  people happy to receive a sandwich, asked for all the remaining flyers to distribute to her friends.

Lopburi’s Slimming Academy held an exhibition encouraging people to be healthier by losing weight. Initiates were delighted to take part in this May 2nd event which was attended by over 600 participants including: doctors, nurses, volunteers of village public health, citizens wanting to improve their physique and overall well being, as well as the media from TV Channel 5. Their beautifully decorated booth, filled with Master’s publications, was entitled “Be Healthy and Slim with the Vegetarian Diet.” Many guests were very interested in the SOS global warming messages and impressed with the veggie meal offered, inviting their friends to come and enjoy the baked textured soy protein with sesame.

We thank Master for taking care of us and our environment. We will continue to work together to inspire more people to save our planet.
