By Yogyakarta News Group (Originally in Indonesian)

[Yogyakarta] A wonderful chance granted by God came on April 12 and 13, Golden Year 5 (2008) when fellow initiates from Yogyakarta Center were invited by The International Loving Association Yogyakarta Branch (INLA) to present updated information from Supreme Master Television on global warming in three consecutive seminars. The seminars were intended to promote vegetarianism and its positive contribution for curbing global warming. All the guest speakers are vegetarian, including renowned novelist, Dewi “Dee” Lestari and Dr. Prasasto Satwiko.

Two seminars took place on April 12. One was held in Atma Jaya Yogyakarta University, where there were 300 participants, and the other was held in Jogja National Museum, with journalists and art workers as part of the active audience. On April 13, the third seminar, opened by the Magelang City Deputy Mayor, was held in Ahmad Yani Building, Magelang City with 500 invited guests from different fields.

Through these great occasions, more and more people, media and government officials have become aware of the urgent situation of climate change and its most effective solution of becoming vegetarian. At the conclusion of one of the joyous seminars, an official from the Military Academy invited the fellow initiates to hold a similar seminar for its 4,000 military students. They were really delighted and grateful for this enlightening and educational opportunity given by God. Let us all pray that this world will continue to be our home with its marvellous, unending beauty.

Reforestation to Stop Climate Change

By Jakarta News Group (Originally in Indonesian)

[Jakarta] To support the reforestation efforts by the Indonesian government aiming at stopping climate change, the local fellow initiates planted a thousand trees in the Muara Angke mangrove forest along the coast north of the nation’s capital on March 2, Golden Year 5 (2008). The project was launched by the City Park Division to restore the ecosystem and protect against annual floods caused by a rising sea level. The Jakarta Center also showed Supreme Master Television programs on global warming and the vegetarian diet, which resonated well with the local people.

On March 20, the fellow initiates and their families planted another 140 trees of different varieties near the Depok campus of the University of Indonesia just south of Jakarta. Some of the participants also cleaned a lake for lotus cultivation while others distributed SOS flyers at the train station and other crowded spots in the area.

With Master’s blessing, the activities concluded on an optimistic note, that the trees will be the first of many more to be planted in the future.
