[Londres] During the month of June of Golden Year 5 (2008), our fellow initiates went to a number of major free summer events and festivals held in London and handed out the SOS flyers raising public awareness on the importance of a vegetarian diet to stop global warming.

These events included the annual “Thai Festival” held at Trafalgar Square, “West End Live” at Leicester Square, and “Carnival de Cuba” at Southwark Park. Overall, the initiates distributed over 10,000 flyers to the locals as well as international tourists who attended these festivals. The response from the public was very positive as many people expressed their support for what our Association is doing. They were happy and interested to receive the flyer, immediately taking the time to read it and offering constructive feedback on its content. A gentleman even came back to get more for his friends, saying he was very pleased to receive this important information.

The London initiates wish to thank Master for Her blessings in helping them spread these urgent messages so that more people will change to the compassionate, eco-friendly, vegetarian diet to help save our beautiful planet.

Ahimsa – Newsletter of the Young Indian Vegetarians
 – Summer 2008 – Issue No. 51

[Londres] The Young Indian Vegetarians (YIV) featured Supreme Master Ching Hai on the front page of their newsletter Ahimsa, Summer 2008, Issue No. 51, with an additional story inside about the Mahaveer Award presented to Master, and the SOS flyer as an insert. The annual publication goes out to 900 people in the UK and 500 abroad – both Indians and non-Indians, mostly vegetarians. It is also distributed at fairs, conferences and events attended by the Young Indian Vegetarians. The Ahimsa newsletter is a call to the modern Indians to return to the ancient civilization tradition of non-killing; the YIV society reminds Indians around the globe that the survival of the ancient practice of Ahimsa is at stake and it’s time to come together to stop the people of India from meat eating.

Please see News 197 for the detailed report of the Mahaveer Award presentation.
