God Always Listens

By Costa Rica Relief Team (Originally in Spanish)

On September 5, 2008, the Costa Rican relief team arrived in Tegucigalpa, Honduras to provide aid to the flood-affected victims who had lost everything when a large river overflowed.

The team got in touch with the Head of the Tegucigalpa Fire Department, Mr. Carlos Cordero, who offered them a car and a driver to assist them in the mission. The driver, fireman Alfredo Rosales, not only drove the team to the affected areas, but also helped with the purchase and packing of the relief supplies.

The following evening, the relief team arrived in La Avispa in San Francisco de la Paz, Olancho, where they distributed the essential supplies as well as candies for the children. The families were especially grateful to God and Master for sending love and comfort to their remote mountainous community.

On September 9, COPECO (the National Commission for Emergencies) informed the relief team that communities in Goascorancito, Cutile and Arrada in the Choluteca region were in urgent need of help. Due to a potential threat of fatal landslides, the government was building a shelter so the villagers could be evacuated to a safer area. In the meantime, they were unable to reach their crops in the fields. It took the relief team several hours walking on steep and narrow mountain paths to reach them. Knowing that the immediate problem was food shortage, the team headed down the mountain and drove to the main provincial town of Choluteca, where they bought supplies that could last 15 days until they were evacuated. With the help of COPECO’s Volunteer Rescue Team, the supplies were packed overnight and delivered to the families the next day.

Las familias estaban agradecidas a Dios y la Maestra por la comida que recibieron y el amor que sintieron de los miembros del equipo. Estas personas habían estado rezándole a Dios por ayuda y sus plegarias habían sido escuchadas.
