Soup Kitchens provide a helping hand to individuals and families who have lost their jobs and need a place to come to eat. In excess of 200 men, women and children go there to eat five days a week, 52 weeks a year. Even more come for the extra special dinners that are offered at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
On May 26, Golden Year 3 (2006), our brothers and sisters from the Los Angeles Center prepared 260 hot meals which they served at a local Soup Kitchen. Along with the stir-fried noodles, vegetables, vegetarian chicken and fresh salad, the guests were also given bottled water which they rarely have. One of the managers commented right after we played Master’s tape: “I feel so good in this room. It’s wonderful that your group came today. We need people like you guys to do this work.”

An assistant manager made these remarks about the Alternative Living flyer that she had just received: “This is great! I will scan this flyer for my son. He is in Westwood, California. I believe that he would like to see this flyer.” She also received the CDs of Master’s lectures in Africa and the United Nations. She said, “I’m sure I will get something from these CDs; I am grateful.” Other staff members pointed to the hot lunch boxes and said: “It’s so good. We like these foods. They are good for us.”
While our homeless guests were having their lunch, we played one of Master’s videos. Most of them appreciated it and attentively watched the tape as they were eating. The atmosphere was very relaxed with a peaceful energy emanating from Master’s tape, making their lunch even more enjoyable!
