Sowing
the Seeds of Love and Enlightenment
through Various Activities
[Yogyakarta] Since February Golden Year 3 (2006), after receiving Master’s instructions to spread the message of love, through the “Alternative Living” flyer, to all corners of the world, initiates from Yogyakarta began to do this task in the following ways:
1. Distributing the flyers to health departments and their VIP personnel, hospital visitors, friends, colleagues, guests and university students.
2. Distributing the flyers at train stations, bus terminals, traditional markets, busy crossroads, vegetarian restaurants, Balinese Temple and Maitreya monastery.
3. Entrusting the flyers to the stores owned by initiates.
4. Posting the flyers on public and university notice boards.
A
sister initiate, who is a midwife, handed out 4,000 flyers by herself
to her colleagues, patients and various organizations and groups that
she is affiliated with, such as Family Planning and Health Services, the
Indonesian Midwife Association Sragen Branch, the PKK (Pendidikan Kesejahteraan
Keluarga) group which sponsors a program at the village level to educate
women on various aspects of family wellbeing and to the group at National
Polio Immunization Week.
At the beginning of March, to expand the scope of the distribution, 4,400 Alternative Living flyers along with 4,400 Nobel Laureates and Scientists leaflets were inserted inside the Kompas and KR newspapers, which are the biggest in Yogyakarta. So from February up to April, 22,000 flyers have been handed out. From the experiences of those series of activities above, initiates felt really blessed and now are highly motivated to continue this animal saving project.
To celebrate the birthday of our beautiful Master in the month of May, Yogyakarta Center sought opportunities to introduce Master’s teachings to the local people as well as to continue delivering the vegetarian message of love. As if knowing the wish of Her children, Yogyakarta Center was suddenly informed about events that they could take part in. They only had one week to prepare for these three activities below!
Praise
the Lord, on May 7, Yogyakarta Center had the chance to deliver God’s
message by setting up a booth in Hall II of the Medical Faculty at Gadjah
Mada University. The seminar was entitled “Meditation and Yoga for
Physical and Spiritual Wellbeing”. Due to the cooperation with the
committee, more than 200 people attended and received the sample booklet,
News magazine, Master’s meditation pamphlet and the Alternative
Living flyer. At the end of the seminar, we offered delicious vegetarian
bread, made by a sister initiate in Magelang, which was eaten just in
seconds by seminar participants as well as the committee. One participant
could not hide her amazement that vegetarian bread could be as delicious
as that.
From May 8-11, Yogyakarta Center participated in a Book Fair which was held in the Library Hall at Yogyakarta State University. Most of the visitors of this book fair were Moslem university students, and among them were many female students who wore jilbab (female headgear). Nevertheless, Master’s divine appealing power that radiated from Her face attracted people to come, either to pick up a sample booklet or to browse the publications. About 800 sample booklets, News magazines, Master’s meditation pamphlets and Alternative Living flyers were received by the visitors.
This
book fair was also covered by Jogja TV, the most popular station in Yogyakarta.
They videoed our booth, as well as Masters’ books, VCDs, posters,
etc. and it was aired on their network on Wednesday night, May 17. Through
this coverage, more and more people from Yogyakarta and the surrounding
area were blessed by having the opportunity to see Master.
On the last day of the book fair, we held a video seminar featuring Master’s video lecture from Istanbul, Turkey entitled “Pacifying the Mind”. After the Convenient Method was taught to those who were interested, we offered vegetarian bread to the guests and other library visitors.
For the next few days, May 12-13, initiates from Yogyakarta Center, with the welcomed spontaneous help from the Jakarta, Surabaya, Magelang, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara and Bali initiates, attended the Waisak Commemoration to hand out the Alternative Living leaflets.
Our team, consisting of more than 40 initiates, spread out to cover several locations, the Mendut Temple, the Borobudur Temple, the Pondok Tingal Hotel, the Kyai Langgeng Tour Garden, the Night Fair, the bus terminal, the train station, traffic crossroads, Yogyakarta Palace and Malioboro (Yogyakarta’s shopping center).The results made us really happy, as in just these two days, 80,000 flyers were distributed!
Throughout all of these events, we encountered many unique experiences. One sister initiate who handed out the flyers at the Mendut Temple was surprised because someone asked her for 1,000 copies to be distributed in Semarang city! Some people wanted to know more about our Association and the meditation method that we practice. Others already knew about Master and had read Her booklet.
We displayed Master’s poster at the entrance gate to Borobudur Temple, and the initiates who were assigned to that area noticed that many people, including children, stopped and gazed at Master’s poster for a long time. Some even took pictures of it.
Another sister initiate who distributed flyers inside tour buses was asked to explain the message in the leaflet. So there she was standing in front of the tourists, as if she was the tour guide for that bus.
The finale to this joyful flyer distribution activity was the celebration of Master’s birthday on May 14. This day was very special for those who attended because it was celebrated with many initiates from the various Centers in Indonesia and celebrated right after fulfilling the holy task from our beloved Master. We started the celebration with a prayer that Master will always stay healthy and have a long life on Earth. Then we sang “Happy Birthday” sincerely in front of Her picture. We shared a meal accompanied by the spiritual song that Yogyakarta Center presented to Master, entitled “A Graceful Soul for the World.”
All of us felt so elated and really blessed
to have been able to participate in this noble task of sowing seeds of
love and enlightenment with everyone. We hope more and more people will
become vegetarian and come to know Master and Her teachings.
