Planting Trees to Ease Global Warming
China By a fellow initiate in China (Originally in Chinese)

Sichuan Province

[Chongqing] On March 12, Golden Year 5 (2008), our local Association members and the citizens of Chongqing celebrated Arbor Day by planting trees on 150 acres of a hillside that had lost its greenery in a fire last year. At least 20,000 saplings of less flammable, broad-leafed species were planted. We hope that everyone will become vegetarian, go green and plant more trees so as to ease the effects of global warming.

Shaanxi Province

[Xian] On March 8 and 9, local fellow initiates responded to Master’s call to save the planet by planting saplings on barren hills tens of kilometers from Xian. Although the mountains were steep and the paths rough and covered with rocks and thorny bushes, the initiates were not deterred and carried the heavy saplings up the hills.

On the second day of the project, while we were absorbed in our work, the sky suddenly filled with heavy smoke and news came that a fire had started on a nearby hill. We rushed to the scene and found that some trees were already charred. Heart-broken, we disregarded our safety and tried our best to contain the fire. In less than two hours, the fierce fire was extinguished. When moving downhill to resume our tree-planting, we met the firemen who had just arrived. Upon hearing that our sisters and brothers had already put out the fire, the firemen looked at us, amazed and awed by our quick response and fearless spirit.

Beijing

[Beijing] On March 30, over 70 fellow initiates planted trees in a Beijing suburb with their families and friends. Everyone, from teenagers to those in their sixties, worked with devotion and planted more than 700 saplings. Our serious attitude left the staff of the Forestry Center deeply impressed.

The fellow initiates are happy to have contributed to the forestation endeavor, thus doing our part to save the planet. We look forward to planting more trees in the future.
