Unconditional Care for Landslide Victims
By Korean Relief Team (Originally in Korean)
On
April 16, 2009, a landslide swept through a village in the Central
Asian country of Kyrgyzstan. Sixteen people lost their lives and
three dwellings were destroyed, leaving the residents homeless.
Upon hearing of the tragedy, Supreme Master Ching Hai contributed
US$10,000 to bring emergency relief to those most in need. The additional
US$10,000 for travel expenses was covered by our Association members.
On May 8, a relief team of Korean Association members arrived at
the landslide-stricken village of Raykomol in the Jalalabad region.
Seeing the cramped conditions the survivors lived in, the team gave
cash assistance to enable the homeless to build houses and purchase
necessity items. A 15kg box of clothing was also given to help those
who had lost all their personal possessions in the landslide. The
people expressed their sincere gratitude for Supreme Master’s
timely aid.
