A Touching Encounter in Morocco

The woman in blue is Ms. Hanane Abdelmouttalib

Some of the working team members who went to Casablanca to distribute the Alternative Living leaflets, met Ms. Hanane Abdelmouttalib ♥♥♥♥♥♥ from the Humane Society, an amazing figure of sacrifice and dedication towards animals, which is not easy in that country.

When we came to know the conditions this young woman has to deal with in order to do her work helping the homeless animals in Morocco our hearts were deeply touched. There are many stray animals because people don’t generally like them and they are ill-treated. Very early in the morning and late at night, Ms. Abdelmouttalib and a veterinarian friend of hers comb the city to find abandoned cats and dogs to feed and treat them. She does this regardless of the weather, people’s reactions and even at the cost of her own health. In the afternoon, she works on her website: www.ahpae-marokanimo.com.

Her only motives are compassion and the desire to share the love she has with these frightened animals. Her dream is to set up a refuge to take care of them. Up to now, she has been helped in her efforts by equally incredible people, Ms. Fran蔞ise Brassart and her son, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ who live in Lille, northern France. They have turned their house into a shelter for handicapped and other less fortunate animals, some even coming from abroad. They assist her in everyway with her website and the animals.

Hanane and Pito

The young woman, touched by the message in the flyer and Master’s teaching asked us if we would take Pito, a handicapped little cat, to the shelter in Lille, France. Our presence in Casablanca was like a gift from Heaven for these women, because they had been waiting since January for someone to bring the cat to France.

We must confess that we were a little bit anxious to travel with the cat, and be asked about the cat’s papers at the border. But everything went smoothly. A few days later, two of us went to Lille and finally took Pito to his home. On the way, out of fear, while I was checking why his paw was bleeding, he escaped and climbed up a tree to hide. When we caught him, and arrived at the lady and her son’s house, we were really emotionally stressed. However, all that was alleviated when we encountered the love and compassion from these people who help each other no matter what hardships they come across, and fight with courage and determination to fulfill the tasks they promised to accomplish for the animals.

Observing and experiencing all of this reinforced in me the will, strength and determination to fight to achieve my goals. I sincerely thank God for this opportunity, to learn to go beyond and above my limits.
