1993
was my first trip on a lecture tour. It was there that my ego, which I once
thought was indestructible, crumbled easily and naturally under the high vibration
of the group.
In
Australia, the low population density made flier distribution a difficult
job. On the first day, the team returned to its temporary lodgings carrying
many fliers. Looking at these fliers, the brother in charge, though well aware
of how difficult it was, insisted that we finish our assigned jobs each day
so as to cultivate the habit of overcoming difficulties and solving problems.
From that day on, we learned to finish our assigned tasks each day, finding
ways to overcome the difficulties we encountered. We all worked steadfastly
to accomplish our mission.
This
experience of flier distribution in Australia taught me thoroughly the ideal
of self-discipline in work. I was both surprised and touched by the relationship
between the work team members and Quan Yin messengers. The team members were
absolutely obedient and very disciplined. That was why they could act quickly
and advance bravely. Their courage assisted me in overcoming my individual
self and growing up. Therefore, the lecture trip was a journey of enlightenment
for me in my search of the Truth and the real self. As Master once said, "Just
let go of your small self and then you'll be big."
When
we returned to Asia, the schedule was not so tight. Two work groups joined
forces in Seoul. We thought we had more people, so we all relaxed. The two
group leaders worked together and became mutually reliant. After the lecture,
Master asked to see us. We thought that we were invited to a party again.
But it turned out that Master had severe words for us. She pointed out that
we were not concentrating enough and were relying too much on others instead
of God. We had become conceited over our hard work and success. Master's sharp
warning had us quickly changing our careless and sloppy attitude and we again
focused our attention on God's instructions. Truly, when a Master teaches
the disciples, He or She always emphasizes their inner quality and not their
apparent success or failure.
