Story World - Reflections on Loving the Silent Tears:
The Musical
A
Chance Meeting

When I entered the Shrine Auditorium the afternoon of the Loving the Silent Tears performance, the second floor was already full of enthusiastic audience members and my ticket was for that area. While I was worrying about finding a seat, some initiates from France waved to me, indicating some available seats around them. After sitting down I soon found myself conversing with the friendly gentleman next to me, who said he was a general manager/journalist for a Los Angeles-area, Arabic-language newspaper. The man said he had read about Loving the Silent Tears in the newspaper and decided to attend to find out why so many famous musicians had dedicated themselves to a musical inspired by the poetry of Supreme Master Ching Hai. He then said lovingly, “At this time on Earth, we need to be united together by love. When we can solve problems with love, cultures can be exchanged and the world will be peaceful; no more war.” At that moment I was deeply touched by the man’s sincere words and my soul was elevated, as through them God was showing me the oneness of humanity. We then stopped talking because the show had begun, and although Master did not attend in person, the power of Her love filled the hall. During intermission the gentleman introduced me to his wife and said they had been vegetarians for more than ten years. While watching the donation ceremony after the performance, he was deeply impressed and said, “In this world, many rich people only take without giving, but Master Ching Hai only gives without taking!” After the show I watched the journalist and his wife leave for the VIP banquet. Holding the business card he had given me, which contained his contact information, I felt a strong desire to communicate with him again. So that night I sent him an email and asked the front-desk clerk of my hotel to mail him a copy of the DVD offered at the musical. I thought that for a journalist the DVD would provide lots of wonderful information. Everything went on smoothly and perfectly! I returned to Formosa the next morning, and upon my arrival received a warm, grateful e-mail from the gentleman. Thank God for giving me the opportunity to feel the presence of love in such a beautiful way. This experience truly demonstrates that the seeds of peace have been sown around the globe and will soon be blossoming with fruitful results!
